There is also an anti-dam movement, so for the rabid Enviro-Mental crowd, rabidly protecting the delta smelt especially makes sense because it helps to make dams and reservoirs less useful and easier to remove.

Twenty years ago the wet-behind-the-ears environmentalists tore down all the 300 year old dams along the creeks and streams here in Eastern PA..

Since they were man-made, these morons assumed they must be interfering with natural fish breeding, etc.. The result was tragic - instead of a steady stream all year, the creeks were either raging torrents or nearly dried up, depending on rainfall.

The banks all washed out when it flooded, knocked down nearby trees, and due to the wider path, went too shallow and dry during dry spells. Bridges and roads needed to be repaired - often resulting in more interference with nature - not less.

It turns out that before the 300 year old man-made dams, there were beaver dams since the beginning of time - so by destroying the man-made stone dams, they weren’t returning the creeks to their natural state, they were turning them into drain ditches.

If these arrogant college educated ‘experts’ had just listened to any of us old timer hunters and fishermen, we could have told them - in fact we were furious at the time - but they knew better.
