IRWINDALE, Calif. — Do not tell a beer aficionado about this. Two tractor-trailer trucks carrying beer crashed on a California highway, spilling their loads across the road.

The 210 Freeway had to be shut down going westbound because of the numerous cans and kegs of beer that came out of the trailers.

KCAL estimated that up to 5,000 cans of beer had been strewn across the road.

The New York Times said one truck hit the other as it was “disabled on the right shoulder.” After the first crash, three other vehicles and a tractor-trailer hit the debris.

---- "Damn. Sorry, wrong thread."

All threads lead eventually to government incompetence for the little guy and government corruption for the fat cats. No worries.

:)

A vision from the 210 in Irwindale, looking south from the 210 Freeway to ....

Since the amount of beer was expressed one way -- 5,000 cans -- here's another. About 84 six-packs. Reported that way, it doesn't sound quite as exceptional a news story.

Six-pack a day for one Miller drinker, and less than a three month supply.

Less than a thousand bucks, retail. :)

When I cleaned up truck wrecks for a living these were the “good” wrecks to clean up. These actually happen a lot. The landfill disposal fees are pretty cheap on these wrecks because not much makes it to the landfill... lol

Hahahaha...I saw one of those Internet Clickbait things that said “Movies That Would Never Be Made Today!”

One of those movies was “Animal House”! Nearly every other movie they listed were highly rated in my view...movies like:

Stripes
Sixteen Candles
Slapshot
Crocodile Dundee
Die Hard
Forrest Gump
Caddyshack
Back to The Future
The Police Academy movies
Porky’s
Big
Life of Brian
Blazing Saddles
The Jerk
48 Hours
Tropic Thunder
Me, Myself, and Irene
Revenge of The Nerds
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Ace Ventura

So, I had to read some of the “critiques”, and they ALL sounded as if they had been written by the staff of the SF Chronicle.

5,000 cans would be 833 sixpacks with two cans left over.

You are an obvious "detail" type. Good on you.

What would the CA redemption value be of the empty cans in the state be? :)

Hahaha...years ago, I went with a caravan of cars and a camper to a football game in Buffalo, NY. When we got there, we stopped at a store to buy beer for everyone, and one of the guys who was one of the “leaders” was a hard partying, hard drinking guy.

For some reason, when he did the calculations, he determined somehow that we had to each by 4 twelve-packs of some kind of beer, and since there were twenty of us, everyone stopped and did the calculation in their heads and said in unison “What??? Are you crazy?”

Heh, it came out to some absurd amount of beer even for a heavy drinking two days weekend!

As a craft beer lover, what I cared about most was if it was good beer or swill. Article doesn’t say.

I still have very conservative cousins in the state, fully aware of the mess.

Out of curiosity I looked at the state site, which is VERY interesting for what it does not show. Aggregate debt. It mentions and has links to bits and pieces:

"Debt Issued YTD, Local Debt Issues YTD, Proposed Debt and Recent Long-term Issuance"

Source: Official website of the California State Treasurer's Office

But the overall picture is"

An aggregate $ 612 billion in state debt and rising quickly.

And rising quickly indeed we are the highest taxed state and they keep adding to them it’s the price of socialism in action.

Thanks for data

---- "...it's the price of socialism in action."

Not to be combative, my personal take as an ex-Californian is that this is only pretend socialism, a "beard" to hide the reality of the Democrats and associated bureaucrats who have been robbing the state for years. It's "legal corruption."

Here's a link I hope you would pass on to all other Californians, as I have with my extended family and friends there:

All pensions "21,535,311 records found – Page 1 of 430,707"

Corruption, saying all the "nice" progressive "we care" stuff has been ripping off the state for decades, and much of California media has been assisting them.

Just don’t bring in out of state cans to Cali to claim the CRV cash (AKA the Kramer/Newman plan) They will put you in jail.

I just scrolled through that pillow biters pathetic screed. Hegseth, warrior, leader, beer drinker, Christian, white, heterosexual. No wonder he is hated by;

“Just in case you were thrown by the vagueness here, “the enemy” in question is a gay voter.”
