Pure depressing for Chicago.

Under Daley, the city might have been Democratic, but it always felt as if the man truly cared about the citizens and not just about power. Even if the road was dug up to fix potholes right after it had been repaired for sewers, rather than working together and planning, they STILL fixed the sewers and the roads. Now it seems as if the needs of the people aren’t even considered next to the needs of the activists.

This is true about Richard J. Daley, but for the son, Richard M. Daley, not so much. Shortshanks probably committed a crime when he tore up the runway of the downtown airport Meigs Field in the middle of the night. He sold off the rights to all parking meter revenue, the Skyway tolls, and Grant Park parking garages, deals that netted short term gains, but giving up billions of dollars in future revenue. That’s some legacy.
