Happy October! Hubby and I are in Maine for the first time. Just came from Vermont through New Hampshire, also first time for me. Have met really nice people along the way. If the government shuts down will we be stranded here?

Happy October to you 'n Hubby. Sounds wonderful.
You won't be stranded there. The government is an impediment to certain functions but touring Maine isn't among them. I see Federal Park services could be impacted. I asked AI how might a shutdown impact us for some ideas, but AI doesn't get out of the house much.
AI:
A government shutdown can disrupt various services and programs that many people rely on, such as national parks, nutrition assistance, and some health services. Additionally, federal employees may face furloughs or work without pay, which can create financial stress for families.
