Just shows the money is always the priority. Results don't count/matter (look at the shots,look how long it took to expose that con) it's all about the money.
Natural products are not patentable per se; a unique procurement or delivery system could be attached to the product maybe, but still licensure and labelling (on market, advertising, promotion) via the FDA requires costly phase I, II, III, and then II studies. The manufacturer has NO incentive to do these costly studies and administrative filings if another drug house can come and sell their own product using the first manufacture’s licensure/labelling data.
It is the nature of this industry. On purpose no doubt.
Nature products studies would be a great use of taxpayer funded science, no?
