Loved living in New Dorm. The girls’ wing and the boys’ wing was connected underground and a matron in a green visor sat at a desk to keep us separated. Kids would hide at the corner and RUN!! to the other side.
I loved Robie House. Ran out to see it in the rain and learned about rain gutters. Such a disappointment when I was hoping for a waterfall. I wouldn’t have wanted to live in one, but so enjoyed the clean lines of Art Deco.
Montage is a kind word for U of C. More like spend the money when it comes in quick and do whatever makes the donor happy.
Oh, you were BEFORE My time. Except for Smith House (female) and one house in Burton-Judson, it was all pretty co-ed by the time the ‘80s hit. I am not sure if “New Dorm” got renamed. The parking in Hyde Park has gotten unbearable since the ‘80s. The meters even charge on Sundays. Thanks, Daley.
