Portland is the womb for Antifa. The 90s were not particularly traumatic and at that time Portland was a great prosperous city and Oregon was very cheap to live. The whole state was nice. It was “liberal” but more in a “stay out of my business” sort of way. Not the “I’m from the government and we know all” like it is now.

This is a pretty good take on the downfall. Like just about everything else, it was college educated liberals that killed it.

I spent some time living in Portland a while back, and I heard more than a few native Oregonian left wingers complain about the new breed of lefties coming in from California (San Francisco, specifically, of course) and how they were changing the culture from a Wild West sort of liberalism to the rigid, totalitarian, always up your rear end, Left that we see now, and they hated it almost as much as I did. Now, of course, they have adapted to the new indoctrination.
