That attack on Ft. Sumter had absolutely nothing at all to do with slavery and everything to do with a federal government that was going broke. The south was very prosperous.
Exactly; unfortunately our fellow freepers have been indoctrinated by the Federal Department of Education. Fort Sumpter was attacked because an abandoned revolutionary era fort in Charleston harbor was being re-commissioned by Lincoln and re-manned for the purpose of imposing more and more import/export taxes on the south— which the northern states were not affected by, and which in addition to funding the government greatly benefitted northern manufacturing. Read Mary Chestnut’s diary, freepers, and educate yourselves.
STATE’S RIGHTS.
Lincoln and the north could have bought every slave and saved a bloody civil was if they ‘union’ really wanted to end slavery. The emancipation proclamation was just to keep the UK from joining the Southern states. BUT, it has to be distilled to the fantasies of public education to show Democrat Party leader Abraham Lincoln and Barrack Obama had to fight ultra MAGA Donald Trump’s masked nazis who invaded the Northern states to capture more black and brown slaves for their oil plantations.
Although when your labor force is essentially free, it’s easier to be prosperous.
I get tired of both sides of this. Those that say slavery was the sole reason, and those that say economics and state rights were the reasons, with slavery not even a part of it.
Maintaining slavery was definitely one of the motivations for the South because it played a central role in the economic paradigm, as well as “states rights” - but it wasn’t the sole reason.
Sure dude, bleeding Kansas was about tariffs and not the expansion of slavery...
The South started the civil war to form their own country to protect and expand Slavery.
If they had won they would have ended up like a giant version of Hatti or South Africa.
So does that mean today’s Trantifas are as legitimate as the Jefferson Confederates?
The Confederates were EXACTLY like the left. Both hate the US.
