MAPLETON, Utah (KUTV) — A woman was arrested on misdemeanor charges after allegedly chasing and threatening a group of juveniles who had ding-dong-ditched her home.
An officer with the Mapleton City Police Department responded to a "juvenile problem" after a resident called to report a group that had rang their doorbell and run away.
The person who called to report the problem had allegedly followed the group through Mapleton and Springville to a random driveway, according to court documents.
Police said the caller's wife then arrived at the scene and blocked the juveniles' vehicle in the driveway, preventing them from leaving. Officials said she then yelled and swore at the juveniles, pulling out a "pepper spray pistol" and pointing it at them.
The woman allegedly "used her palm to strike one of the juveniles multiple times in the chest," the officer wrote in the probable cause statement. The officer said the juvenile had a red mark on his chest where he had been hit.
Police arrested the woman, identified as Lesa Ramirez, on multiple misdemeanor charges, including child abuse, threatening to use a dangerous weapon in a quarrel, and unlawful detention.
She was booked in the Utah County Jail.
Then a homeowner should split off from tracking and talk to the Kids parents. Just say, 'the kid that just walked in here rang my doorbell and ran away, what should I do?'.
If the parent gives any Sas, just say, 'No problem, I will just turn over the evidence to the authorities if this happens again.' and leave immediately.
I did this to some youths who threw rocks hitting my townhouse. I tracked them on foot unobserved until one went into a home alone. The parents started to yell at me immediately, but when they took a breath, said in a low deliberate tone: 'No problem, I will just turn over the evidence to the authorities if this happens again' and immediately left. The kids stayed away from that time on.
I remember my Dad running after one of the neighborhood holligans when I was a kid. The kid took a turn into the alley and my Dad jumped over a short row of hedges at the house on the corner, grabbed the kid and read him the riot act and told him if anything else happened he was coming for him.
Never had another issue and I was impressed because I had no idea my Dad could run like that and hurdle a hedge.
My ding-dong-ditch’ers who kicked in my door were arrested, prosecuted, and convicted.
HOW WOULD YOU REACT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT???
Anything bad happening to these urban juveniles...well, my g-a-s meter barely moves.
If a car was involved, these were at least middle teens, not 10 year olds.
After the usual outcome it seems harmless...but during the commission of the act a victim cannot be sure.
Report didn’t say if event occurred at night.
I know if someone was kicking at my door at night, I would be ready to do some heavy duty “protecting” of myself.
You are a better person than me. I would have returned to their house on random days at 3am and ding-dong-ditched them many, many times.
