It was successful at least once 30 or 40 years ago.The person ended up with severe frostbite.
When I was a C-5 flight engineer, a visit to the altitude chamber was required. They asked for two volunteers, one to go to 30,000 feet and the other to 35,000 feet. The rest of the group went to 25,000 during that phase. I volunteered for 35,000. At 35,000, I took off my mask and started to place different shapes into a child clear plastic ball. For the first 25 seconds, I was doing well and then I felt myself slowing down. Then suddenly I felt that I had a whole bunch of energy and was putting more shapes into the ball. The instructor asked me to put my mask on and gang load my regulator. As I looked for my mask, I realized that the instructor had already secured it to my face and that was the energy burst I experienced. My time of consciousness was about 30 seconds.
You have better odds at climbing K2 that than stowing away in a planes landing gear.
“…there’s nowhere near enough oxygen to live.”
But I’ve always wondered how there is enough oxygen at that altitude for combustion of the jet fuel?
Bring your own oxygen bottle
“And this flight was inbound from Europe.....that person was dead for quite a while”
Most people, when dead, stay that way forever.

Most people, when dead, stay that way forever.
Being a stowaway on a ship is far less dangerous.
77% and 13%
Definitely AI math
Already corrected myself, but thanks for noticing.
Coming from you, it means a lot to me

What is it today with the triple posts?
I counted a DOUBLE DIGIT post on another thread about an hour ago.
“Most people, when dead, stay that way forever.”
Especially Francisco Franco...
Not picking on you.
Ive found AI making plenty of math errors.
I know. It was MY error.
That is why i corrected it myself later on.
other than that I was being a smart A$$
Oh I don’t know how about an IQ of less then 80, maybe 75.....
Watching f video of passengers lsliding off the emergency ramp in all that smoke was terrible. One man had his terrified little boy with him. Poor little kid was screaming in fear asking Daddy why they had to do that.
The one experience I've had with altitude was driving almost to the top of Mount Evans...about an hour west of Denver. It's 14,200 feet and to get to very top you must walk up about 50 feet. After taking two steps I was so breathless that I had to stop. I told my cardiologist about the experience and e said "no wonder...at that altitude that's no surprise".
The jet engine is getting air rammed into it at 500+ mph, and then it has a compressor stage to compress the air further.
That's where the pressurization for the cabin comes from, also.
