The Beakersons are back together on the nest! The first stick of the season remains to be delivered... Who will do the honors? Jackie or Shadow?
It looks like Jackie lost her smudge while she was molting away from the nest for 91 days 15 hours 32 minutes (yes, dedicated FOBBV volunteers counted that time too!).
It will be a bit harder to tell them apart without the telltale smudge. 🙃
Nest visits in September-October are historically quite sporadic, typically in the early mornings and late evenings, with days and sometimes weeks between visits. Regular nestorations with daytime visits normally begin in mid-November.

Celebrity pair of bald eagles returning to their nest on a visit is my guess.
Bald eagles in Calif. - pair had a nest this spring and raised two chicks successfully. There’s a live webcam on them 24/7. It has had 50,000+ viewers at times. It became a “thing” this year...

Not as often with Blue Jays, as they tend to rob and plunder the nests of other birds.
I was glad to see the black spot on Jackie’s forehead wasn’t cancer or something serious and is gone after moulting. Never could find anything last year was the spot was all about. The new log explains that black spot was sap. Whew. Ready for another mating season. Sure do miss Sunny and Gizmo.

I think I’ll knock it off for a while and see if this clears itself up. Too many duplicates.
I can hardly wait to find the explanation for the repeated posts we are seeing.
So far (knock on wood) my posts don’t repeat.
