In my amateur opinion, there are things you might want to do but decide not to do because of societal pressure. You might want to steal candy but if your mother says it is wrong, you decide not to steal the candy even though it is delicious. If you are ambivalent in sexual interest, you might be directed by societal pressure to go for the opposite sex. OTOH if you are guided by societal pressure to become LGBT furry or have sex with reptiles, an adolescent might go with the flow. Some are absolutely born gay, but more are coerced and groomed. Just my opinion.
