Saltair resort, just West of SLC. They reopened it in the 90s for several concerts but a portion of it caught fire recently. They are doing some rebuilding but the future of it is still unknown.
Plus Yellowstone, Rushmore, Bryce Canyon, Zion, and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon!
In 1947...
You didn’t eat in your car while driving in those days. You either stopped at a picnic table somewhere to eat what was in your cooler or basket or you stopped at a cafe or drive in to eat. Coke came in 6-ounce bottles (Pepsi was 12 oz.)-no Big Gulps then. Most cars were manual-automatics were still rare and air-conditioned cars even rarer. Some had the squirrel-cage evap cooler attached to the side window that only worked upon the speed you drove. And during the Summer..if you were wise..you drove across the desert at night - many motels along Route 66 had lower rates for daytime sleepers. Most of the highways out West were still narrow, barely two lanes and many sharp curves. Wider roads came with bigger construction equipment in the 50s.
Thank you for the info.
Thank you!
I notice the film ended with the bear encounter.
The bear was fattening up for the winter....
