So the Pharisees didn’t conspire with the Romans to do Jesus in? Did I miss something? Jesus was Jewish, let’s not forget. Jesus was shaking up the power structure, wasn’t playing the power games of either the Pharisees or the Romans. Judas was Jewish. It was Jewish on Jewish crime. Also not unheard of. What am I missing here? Jesus’ murder was middle east crime. Hummus is middle east food.
According to the Gospel accounts, Jesus was condemned to death by Pontius Pilate, a Roman official, but the Jewish high priest and other high officials pressured him into doing so. The Pharisees were not involved. Elsewhere in the Gospels they are portrayed as antagonistic to Jesus but they were not part of the power structure.
