Tucker mistook the venue. This was not one of his show opens, where he can make smartass remarks and chuckle about them. This was a solemn moment, and Tucker failed in part.
More than 50% was good, though, since Tucker hammered the Gospel and spoke of Christ well.

Agreed. With that hummus comment, he forced the audience to guess at what he was trying to say. Not appropriate at that venue.
And what’s worse, some of those guesses will make Tucker look bad. We see that here on this thread.
Maybe Tucker should join the Free Republic Writers Guild. Then he’d learn better ways to phrase things.
