“Did the Sanhedrin turn him in to the Romans, possibly.”

“And whilst he was yet speaking, behold Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the ancients of the people.” Matthew 26:47 (Douay Rheims translation)

Of for those who prefer, the King James: “And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.”

Were the “chief priests” not part of the Sanhedrin?

I just wanted to let you know that nothing you said contradicts what I said. The KJV and even modern Bibles draw from the Roman Catholic traditional bible. The New Testament Bible books were selected at the First Nicene Council and approved by Constantine I. Would the Roman Emperor approve of anything that made the Romans look bad? Especially considering the actual history of Pilate, who would not have lost a moment’s sleep over a Jewish radical. They actually made him into a great humanitarian, and his wife, a Roman citizen, into a wise, compassionate woman. The Priests were Jews, as was Herod, who also killed anyone he saw as a threat. This inaccurate history that ALL Jews are collectively responsible for killing another Jew called Jesus has been the basis for pogroms, Crusades, and antisemitic hatred of Jews ever since. Who was responsible for Christ’s death? God, who preordained that it would happen as it did? So blame him not the hummus eaters and screw Carlson.
