What happens a year from now when immigration officials start focusing on deporting families that have lived and worked illegally for perhaps a decade or more? After hearing these sob stories the average independent-minded American will start siding with the Democrats.
With this as a backdrop, Republicans must be prepared to counter this narrative during the run-up to the mid-terms in 2026 and 2028.

AI should be taken into consideration.
To me the long term illegals are the worse. I can’t wait for them to be kicked out.
You draconian folks are asking for it if you are unwilling to look at the big picture.
The author doesn’t do enough to suggest pulling the rug out from under the welfare industry.
If the economy takes a big hit from all the bitter tariff medicine the siren call of socialism will get more attractive.
“ After hearing these sob stories the average independent-minded American will start siding with the Democrats.”
Not me.

That’s because them and their children are sucking the lifeblood out of American taxpayers. They cost us way more than they could ever repay even if they pay/paid taxes.
When all your competitors have to do for a job is to jump in the back of a pickup at The Home Depot, the costs of government make it nigh on impossible to develop a work history.
The life of alien residents who did not arrive with a visa should be crimped to make it desirable to go home ASAP:
1. no citizenship possible if refugee/asylum status is requested or granted
2. only one basic cellphone without useable internet capability
3. outbound calling limited to 60 minutes a month
4. inbound calling limited to 200 minutes a month
5. can’t have video devices in your residence or cable service to your residence
6. no driving a motorized vehicle on a public road
7. no ability to fly to a destination in the USA
8. employers to pay a tax rate increasing year by year of residence in the USA on earnings not paid into your return home fund
9. return home fund to be distributed:
a. for purchase of a non-refundable one-way ticket out of the USA specifically for yourself, or a dependent,
b. on personal collection back home,
c. amounts of twice the typical monthly apartment rent in a three-day period between the 15th and 28th of the month to be collectable in each month the State Department rates your country below 4 after the initial two, or on your request,
d. unclaimed amounts to be forfeited
10. no interest to be paid on your return home fund.
And those paying into SSI and working 40 hour/wk steady jobs?
Gotta acknowledge even deported felons will sneak back in. Nothing there in the old country.
Never.
These constant illegal sob stories were the main reason I canceled my subscription to the LA Time - in 2000.
The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on United States Taxpayers
FAIR arrived at this number by subtracting the tax revenue paid by illegal aliens – just under $32 billion – from the gross negative economic impact of illegal immigration, $182 billion.
In 2017, the estimated net cost of illegal migration was approximately $116 billion. In just 5 years, the cost to Americans has increased by nearly $35 billion.
Illegal immigration costs each American taxpayer $1,156 per year ($957 after factoring in taxes paid by illegal aliens).
Seriously? We need to let none of them back. Its cost a fortune to fumigate this country. They all need to stay in their own countries.
There are hundreds of thousands of people waiting Patiently in line for the privilege of immigrating to this country legally.
Those knowingly issuing driver's licenses to illegal aliens should be charged as accessories to a Federal crime.
It might be possible to create state law tax-exempt communities via referendum.
If you choose to live in such a community, you and your minor children would permanently lose the ability to get state law services and benefits by law, including K-12 education, policing and prisons. If you drive out of the community, you might have to pay a state road use fee.
These might be small villages, at least initially.
In small villages, you could live cheaply at low federal tax rates. It would be possible to take more in federal handouts than you would pay in federal tax.
Village residents could build housing for newcomers, allowing the residents to earn income.
Some houses might get built to the wallboard hung stage and flooring laid stage. These houses would be quite affordable.
If attractive enough, Silicon Valley companies might set up shop in them. Tariff relocation factories might be built in them.
“The good ones who left voluntarily need to be welcomed back in a high profile manner. “
So weak. They broke into our country, defrauded our welfare system and you want them back? No!
All of them!
Another possibility is partially tax-exempt communities overseas. You might have to pay income tax to the country in the same amount as to the IRS for a number of years. You have to pay US federal income tax for ten years after renouncing US citizenship.
The flying distance from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras to Florida and Texas is about the same as the flying distance between Florida and New York State.
There are disease problems in the coffee and banana growing business. These countries need a new source of income.
Many of your young ones know how to speak Spanish.
They knowingly broke the law for decades. They must never be allowed back in. I know the politics will not allow that but no amount of crying and sobbing will change my mind on illegal aliens. I will go further and call for every company which aided their crime be severely punished. Bank loans, car loans, land lords, employers. All of them aided and abetted, AND profited from their crimes.
US/Ukraine Treaty of Friendship
The US shall allow Ukrainian authorities to round up aliens not lawfully in the United States.
Ukraine agrees to place these persons in safe rural areas for a period of 90 days before drafting them into its military service.
All legal cases involving such aliens shall be resolved either by the Ukrainian courts, or on an individual basis, the US Supreme Court.
It’s not just the gardeners and maids. The Hyundai plant in GA was found to have hired over 400 illegal Koreans, many who could speak no English. There were safety issues and accidents as a result. Not to mention, those are good jobs that should be going to Americans who want to work.
We don't need to round them up and deport them. Just cut off all state, local and federal benefits. No EBITs, education, health care, housing, tax credits etc.
Make E-Verify mandatory for all employers. Don't allow them to be counted in terms of apportionment.
Do these simple and and inexpensive things and 90% will self deport.
“severely punished”
Aliens might be permitted to stay provided they pay the costs to governments of themselves and dependents.
Former employers and their owners might get sued tobacco company style.
Did you or did you not use E-Verify, Mr. Employer?
