What do you think or read is the optimal dose for vitamin d. Everything I see is all over the map on this.
I've been taking 10,000 IU (with K2) for couple decades now.
The only thing wrong with my health is that I have type 2 diabetes. I'm taking Metformin and Mounjaro for that.
You didn’t ask me, but I aim for 60+.
I think the “normal” range goes way too low; I read the Dr Mercola site where he addresses this topic occasionally.
I’ve been taking 4,000 iu of D3 everyday since about 2005 and it has kept me in great shape along with all the other supplements I take daily. They work.
Most studies are 5000iu. After that a lot of people get intestinal issues.
If I recall correctly, D is a vitamin that you store, so you can frontload for a while if you live like Dracula and don’t get any Sun. So higher doses are OK for a bit then back to a maintenance dose.

The ideal blood level is 32 ng/ml. People who have 50 ng/ml or higher have more kidney stones.
4000 IU is the maximum recommended daily dose. It’s possible to develop vitamin D toxicity and hypercalcemia from supplements, but not from foods or sunshine.
I had severe D deficiency from an autoimmune condition and was given 50,000 IU per week. Once that disease was in remission I continued taking 5,000 IU daily. But since I was no longer deficient that dose ended up giving me an excessively high level of D and blood calcium. I now stick to 2000 IU daily and my D level is at the top end of normal. Get your blood tested routinely if you are going to dose with high levels of vitamin D.
