If any violence had come from, say, white supremecists, neo-Nazis, the KKK, it would have been headline news all across the country for months.
Since the two attempts on President Trump's life, the shooting of representative Scalise (sp?) at the baseball game, and now the assassination of Charlie Kirk, have all been by Democrats and their supporters, crickets.
I’m not saying you’re not right. In Fact, FR will probably be shut down and Facebook will remain. So, it is probably even worse than you are suggesting.
FR is OLD. It’s why I’m here. It doesn’t demand access to my GPS, cameras, microphone or contact list. Since I’ve been lurking here, now decades, there has been talk of the Government shutting down or taxing or otherwise regulating the Internet. It hasn’t. Why? Because the Government is getting exactly what it wants from it.
What just happened to Charlie Kirk is depressing. It emphasizes what this crappy technology is doing to humanity. This, with Government ‘s gleeful support and the support of the vast majority of people addicted to this technology.
I am in no way saying that shutting it down is the answer. But, turning a blind eye to its impact is certainly not the answer.

I absolutely get it... I am a techie but have become a semi-Luddite. I’m just making the point that “Social Media” is not just Facebook, X, Bluesky, and Tik Tok. If there is a call to banish or regulate these they we had better be ready to also sacrifice. Laws passed will be blind to the differences and will affect all of them, even the ones we like.
