I pretty sure this was his one and only experience.
He didn’t even reload
Job done, time to leave. Clock runs fast. It was a smart choice, maybe even born of panic.
No.
And those targets were generally moving and shooting back at you.
Charlie Kirk was a still target and no one was shooting at the gunman.
But I do know that adrenaline compromises field of vision and fine motor control, and I'm reading over and over that people's grandmothers who had never fired a rifle could be taught to do what this kid did with an hour of instruction, and I don't believe it.
Your privilege.
Easy shot. No need to compensate for range. .30/06 hit a couple inches low if sighted at 100 yards with most loads. Unless there was a howling crosswind, it isn’t going to be affected much at 200 yards either. and certainly not enough vertical angle at that distance to need to be compensated for. Even throw in a little human error, and hit would still be likely. Most .30/06 sporters are capable of at least 2 inch groups at 100 yards, some much better. But that’s 4 inches at 200 yards. Yeah, if the shot drifted either way to the maximum accuracy potential of the rifle, and if the shooter had pulled the shot a bit that way, Charlie would still be alive. That didn’t happen.
Only true if there are only 'a few hundred' are on this forum.
Please, if all he did @ the range was eliminate deflection, (0 windage) anywhere on the vertical of his reticle would have resulted in a centerline kill with 0 on his scope's elevation.
“.30/06 sporters “
My only problem with this whole thing .....
When I watch the video ... I just don’t see the energy of a 30-06
where did it go?
If you had already decided to murder, every thing you have opined on is moot.
It was 200 yds or less. A no-brainer as demo’ed.
In this case I would shoot the 'inverted T' point of the shoulders for the horizontal, 90 degrees up from the sternoclavicular joint. There is no chance for deflection at this range.
Into and out of the target.
Stupid vanity, stupid vanity, stupid vanity.
But you knew that when you decided to post it anyway.
Tell us the bullet style. It seems you know.
He missed his shot.
aklurker: That’s my opinion as well, he got lucky that where it hit ended up being fatal.
I would also agree...here's a possible explanation:
So far, no one has discussed the distance (in yards) to which the rifle scope is sighted to.
My guess is the scope was sighted to 100 yards.
Using JBM ballistics:
https://www.jbmballistics.com/cgi-bin/jbmtraj-5.1.cgi
If the scope is sighted at 100 yards, and the actual distance to the target is 150 yards, the bullet would hit 5 inches low.
My guess is he aimed at the head and hit the neck.
ask tyler robinson...
He’s the gun man. But I bet he didn’t plan it out alone. Calling his boyfriend to get the weapon makes no sense if the boyfriend didn’t already know.
Check out George Webb’s investigations into this.
As to ballistics on a 30 cal of 1906, you have no idea what ou are talking about. What drivel.
On the other hand, if the rifle was sited in correctly for distance, and the shooter didn’t account for elevation, his shot would of hit higher than what he was aiming for. So maybe he was just shooting for center of mass chest shot and which ended up high and into the neck. Also we don’t know how much of Charlie the shooter could see from his position since Charlie did have the top of a tent over him.
That poster could not. He would get a black eye, put his shoulder out of joint, be thrown back, piss his pants, and get a case of PTSD.
