Is this different from the mt. Washington Cog railway? Been on that a few times. Great ride, great destination. Quite pricey

Yes, this is a passenger train that runs from North Conway, NH through Crawford Notch to the north end of the notch, then returns to North Conway.

We live 45 minutes north of Crawford Notch.

Last week we drove by the train as it was stopped at the north end.

If you aren't from here, IMHO, it's well worth the ride.

Since we drive or snowmobile through the area often, it isn't for us.

Yes the Cog Railway and the Conway Scenic are different. At one time, the Mountain Division of the B&M had a spur that ran to the Cog Base Station, but that no longer exists.

Conway Scenic used to have steam, but no longer. If you are going to go there, don’t bother with the round trip from North Conway to Conway and back - if it’s leaf season, take the trip to Crawford Notch and back, but you will need to book in advance.

The Cog is a great trip - first rack railway in the world (before Switzerland), weather can be a problem but if it’s a claer day the views from the top are great.
