There are very specific and distinct laws about making “threats.” Unless you are threatening the President, idle threats are just that….idle. Obviously, they point towards a state of mind, but they are not actionable.

Wondering if they should be. Smarter people than me can hash this out.

You would have to really make the police force significantly larger if you go after everyone making idle threats on the internet.

When I wrote it goes to “state of mind”, that can be used to determine pre-meditation which should be used as a “multiplier” in sentencing.

Creating the “thought police” would not be a good step.l
