A good way to get people to leave you alone
It was 1983-84 when I got people to leave me alone at U of Chicago by singing "We Are the World" out of tune whenever I walked down the hallway to my room . . . always the same line ("It's a choice we're making. We're saving our own lives.") which I thought was unintentionally hilarious.
Supplement that with a frequent stream from my "Barry Manilow's Greatest Hits" double length 8-Track tape I got from the Walgreen's for 50 cents, and no one ever bothered me.

I got drug dealers to stop selling on my corner by going to the mailbox in my underwear while wearing a towel for a cape and running to the mailbox like I was superman.
