This raises things that should be evaluated when selecting a care facility — what measures and plans do they have to care for residents during emergencies? Do they have an emergency generator? Will patients be moved to a safe area?
I can tell you as someone who was present for a number of emergency drills, planned and unplanned, at a local assisted living facility, that loved ones need to be familiar with the protocols, and have a backup plan in place in the event their loved one should be moved.
