When my son in law was younger, he lived near the neighborhood where Uncle Buck was filmed. He snuck out of bed to go watch the filming. He was there for a few minutes when he felt a hand on his shoulder- it was his Dad, and he was NOT pleased. He didn’t really get to see anything, either, too many people and equipment around.

He lived in Glencoe, Illinois, his parents still live there. He has taken us to see where some of the sets of some of John Hugh’s films. We saw the Home Alone house, the park where Kevin evaded the cop. We saw the church where the exterior shots were done near the end of the movie Sixteen Candles, and we visited the spot where Cameron lay comatose after seeing his Dad’s sports car get destroyed. I sat on that low wall in that exact spot. It’s a beautiful spot to view Lake Michigan from.
