India’s IT sector was completely constructed by American technology companies. This is why we get someone who calls himself Albert, but obviously has a different real name that his family and friends use, whenever we call the software company because we can’t get the computer to do something that we think it ought to be able to do. It’s also why our computer programs don’t work the way we think they should. There is a whole language barrier between us and the people who write our software. Used to be computer programs were written by people who thought in the same language as we (I say we) do. We hired them to help us and they took over as soon as there were enough of them. It’s a cultural thing. Just like Moslems who take over as soon as there are enough of them.
“India is a linguistically diverse country and supports this with its Language Policy based on the “Three Language Formula” (every child is taught three languages in school). However, its implementation has exhibited monolingual bias as multiple languages are offered as subjects of study and not as media of instruction. The medium of instruction in the majority of government schools is the concerned state’s regional language. Due to a rise in the demand for English medium instruction, governments in various states have started introducing all English medium instruction in schools.”
“There is no denial of the importance of learning English for the children in government schools in India.”
I suspect the three generally are the regional language, Hindi and English.
