Graham Greene, a trailblazing Canadian First Nations actor who opened doors for Indigenous actors in Hollywood, died September 1 in a Toronto hospital after a long illness. The Oscar nominee from Dances With Wolves was 72.

“He was a great man of morals, ethics and character and will be eternally missed,” Greene’s agent Michael Greene said in a statement to Deadline. “You are finally free. Susan Smith is meeting you at the gates of heaven,” he added, referencing the actor’s longtime agent who died in 2013.

Excellent actor. He narrated the outdoor drama, Tecumseh, also. Great voice. He will be missed.

It is interesting of how actors seem to die at below the actuarial tables.

He was hilarious in Mel Gibson’s “Maverick” and especially as Edgar Montrose in “The Red Green Show.”

Oh, man. I liked that guy. Just saw him in a very underrated movie, IMO...”Wind River”.

Excellent actor with real gravity in every role I have seen him in.

Thank you, Mr. Greene. I enjoyed your work.

I can’t believe he was only 73. He was 40 years old in Dances With Wolves and he looked at lot older than 40. He was also really good in Longmire.

I’m sorry to hear that. He was a real charmer on screen. I loved him in “Northern Exposure”.
