Mike Davis’ interview with FRONTLINE was titled “Trump’s Power & the Rule of Law” and discussed his views on the Trump administration’s impact, including its executive orders, relationship with the DOJ, and the unitary executive theory, all within the context of the rule of law. Davis, who founded the Article III Project, also touched on Trump’s approach to the courts and law firms, as well as broader issues of presidential power and constitutional structure.
.
The interview covered specific actions and policies of the Trump administration, such as executive orders and cuts to USAID inspectors general.
.
Davis discussed the constitutional theory that concentrates power in a single executive, a concept central to his work with the Article III Project.
.
The conversation addressed Trump’s actions concerning the judiciary, including the federal courts and the Supreme Court, and the broader relationship between the president and the courts.
.
A significant theme was the stress on the constitutional structure and the question of whether actions constitute the rule of law or “royal decrees”.
Legal and Political Strategy:
.
Davis’s role as a former chief counsel for Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley provided a lens on the selection of federal appointees and executive branch actions.
Davis is the perfect reason that PDJT’s fire on Sen Grassley is unfounded. The fire should be directed at Democrats and this engaging in Lawfare.
Gwjack
P.S. The military have an expression where soldiers fire upon their team mates - fragging. PDJT should quit fragging (Grassley, Massie, Paul, etc.) and focus on the enemy.
RINOs are Trump’s teammates? No.
Thanks Liz for posting the summary.
I’ve always liked Mike Davis as he is like a bull in a china shop, always charging forward.
I agree that sometimes Trump burns bridges by attacking those who support him.
The frontline interview with S Bannon wa very good. Same series.
Was looking for commentary before putting it on.
“Trump is wrong!!!” Twice in five posts
It is so tiresome. It’s so ignorant.
In three years look at this post. Pick apart little things he does that are wrong. It’s so naggy.
I will watch this video trying to tune out negative bags
“I agree that sometimes Trump burns bridges by attacking those who support him.”
Like endorsing Linseed Grahamnesty or spend-miester in pork bills like Grassley is on AG bills, and yet won’t move President Trump’s blue slips nominees. The examples are countless.
The Great Compromise strikes again.
Embracing amnesty, poor decisions and entanglements in foreign affairs. Who’s the RINO?
This video must be very pro Trump. Or you didn’t watch it One of the two or both
Dems are not teammates.
While it is very pro Trump, it is very common sense legal opinion.
I am pro Trump, but I am more a common sense realist. Trump just tends to be the same.
I am not blind to Trumps faults, but he is still the best person for the job.
