Butt when I sent the reply back in the return envelope I was told they are not allowing anything to be sent to the US because of tariffs. Tariffs are for small packages that China sends all over via other countries to cheat tariffs.
Probably a misunderstanding but you see how the left and the stupid are framing tariffs overseas.

So that means any expats won’t be able to get their payments because they can’t verify their address?

I posted something a thread or two back which I thought might impact the capacity of FReeQs/Freepers from purchasing medication overseas.
Typically the US waves tariffs on the first $800 worth of merchandise sent to the US. That's how Amazon and Ebay can feature low cost purchases from China - no tariffs.
About a month ago - Trump abandoned the waiver on the first $800 and now tariffs apply to small purchases. China and others who rely on shipping small value items (medications from India) will be impacted.
I'm surprised they would refer to tariffs when you tried to ship documents though.
Can you put the original return envelope into a larger one and send it to the local US Embassy? You really do need to reply to that address confirmation request one way or another. And save a few copies of it since this tariff/mail snafu won’t last long. An email reply won’t be sufficient but you could send one to SS to get on record as having tried to mail the real one.——keep at it——
