The guys running these heavy-duty PA systems were often tasked with making the dispersal announcement. If that didn’t go well, they could be ordered to start the puke tone. We had comprehensive briefings that covered civil rights, rules of engagement, and very clear guidelines — this was during the Summer of Love.
