Luger's story reminds me of my own battle with hip arthritis. I spent 3 years on crutches, working out hard every day to prepare for the hip replacement surgery that would ultimately come. I had tennis racket grips wrapped on my crutch handles just to remind me that I would step back out on the tennis courts one day.

Two titanium hips and a good bit of rehab later, and I was back on the courts. Not playing competitively, but just enjoying volleying against the wall. Good enough!

My goal used to be to have the hardest serve, rush the net, and destroy my opponent. My new goal is to be able to serve and knock over solo cups on the other side of the net. Apparently that's a MUCH more difficult goal to achieve.
