BShitte! Socialism is a controlling interest, like Obama did with General Motors.

10% gets you a seat on the Board and a probable requirement to publish any findings if it looks like someone is diddling the books or faking results — like Musk found when trying to takeover Twitter and finding that half of their traffic was bots.

Agreed. If this is the beginning of an expectation that the GVT (we the people) share in the wealth created by grants given it would be a welcome development. Smart giving.

Not black and white. Consumers have choices. Good are made here & abroad. You prefer the Mercedes you shoulder some of the tariff. The company wants to sell cars so it absorbs some of the tariffs, ditto the importer. The US Government gets revenue that pays down debt or pays for infrastructure.

Tariffs are a tool not a tax. Although in some cases consumers may pay more they receive benefits as well.
I am always willing to pay more for a US made product if the quality is comparable. It’s a no brainer when the quality is better. That attitude is not unique to me. By doing so I am supporting America by choice. It is oversimplification to equate tariffs with a tax no matter how brilliant the person making the assertin. Sometimes the truth lies in the context of that person’s entire analysis.

I see no problem in the government investing in vital industry or vital infrastructure.

Prosecuted? By whom? Does our FedGov have a long standing track record of correcting itself?

Put down the devil’s lettuce and go outside for a while until your thinking clears up...

I’m talking about the classic economic definition of fascism. Government ownership of “private” companies is a textbook example of this.

************************

I would call it a semi fascist policy, because the ownership shares are only 10%. It also should be noted that the existing subsidy was already in the public/private supply chain.

The amount of businesses that depend on government largesse through subsidies, tax code favoritism, & government purchases is mind boggling.

So 49% government ownership of any and all American businesses is okay with you?
