That unreliable and stinky automobile will never replace the horse! The same has always been said of emerging technologies. Early adopters will uncover the flaws and shortcomings. And then, technology moves on and acceptance becomes more universal.

Automated phone attendants were also described this way, and they have gotten marginally better, but certainly have not gone away. AI will become more useful, and systems will have to be built to integrate and automate it. That will take time.
