The federal government and our tax money are not supposed to be acquiring private companies. I am accepting doing something about intel because we need microchips in our defense. But frankly this feels like a bit of a stretch and I’m hoping to see the feds get out of intel ASAP.

I feel the same way, and it's an issue of National Security also, IMO. Anyone who compares this to the Auto bailouts during the Obummer mis-administration misses the point: the auto industry was "bailed out" to lock in the UAW as reliable votes for the Democrat Party, thinking they'd lock Michigan as a blue state for decades.
