U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is holding a two-day hiring event in Arlington next week as the Trump administration moves to expand the agency’s ranks.
The career expo, scheduled for August 26 and August 27 at the Esports Stadium Arlington, will focus on recruiting deportation officers and general attorneys, according to ICE’s Eventbrite listing. The listing said candidates could receive same-day job offers at the event, which is billed as a chance to “step into public service” and join what the agency describes as mission-driven careers in law enforcement and legal services.
The agency posted on X on August 19 that the event will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the first day and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the second. ICE’s Eventbrite said attendees should bring a résumé and, if applicable, military or academic records. A Real ID-compliant form of identification is required for entry. Parking costs $10.
The agency claimed that benefits for new hires could include up to $50,000 in recruitment incentives, $60,000 in student loan repayment for federally backed loans, and additional overtime and retirement packages. Deportation officer applicants are also required to undergo a background check and medical clearance process.
The hiring event comes as Trump’s administration pushes for a significant buildup of ICE. Earlier this month, The Dallas Express reported that more than 100,000 people had applied for ICE positions after Trump announced an initiative to hire 10,000 new agents. The expansion is funded under what the administration has called the “One Big Beautiful Bill.”
In Arlington, ICE officials said they are seeking candidates ranging from experienced professionals to recent graduates. Legal applicants must show proof of good standing with a state or territorial bar, while deportation officer candidates may substitute education for experience with the proper transcripts.
ICE has faced heightened scrutiny in North Texas in recent weeks. As The Dallas Express reported on August 15, federal immigration officers have carried out a string of arrests in the Dallas area, prompting debate over the extent of cooperation between local police and federal agents.
The Dallas Express reached out to DPD and Arlington PD to ask if either agency was providing security or otherwise planning to support the conference, given numerous attacks on immigration officers in recent months. DPD directed DX to Arlington.
An Arlington PD spokesman said the department was prepared. “The Arlington Police Department is aware of the upcoming U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement career expo at Esports Stadium Arlington. As with any large event taking place in our city, Arlington police officers will be present to help ensure the safety of attendees and the surrounding community,” Media Relations Officer Tim Ciesco.
Although Ciesco said he could not share details, he added, “Our priority is maintaining a safe and orderly environment for everyone.”
The Arlington expo is the latest step in what Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons previously described as a call for Americans to “serve at ICE and defend the Homeland.”
