The way medicare outfits are setup, promotes fraud. They call you and want you to verify that you are the person they called. We cant trust anyone on the phone, so our health suffers.

I don’t answer the phone or the door. I don’t trust anyone unless I know them or who they are. Noone. No exceptions. Too much at stake now in this digital device age.

The better India-based scammers now use vocoders to mask their origin. They have a set of pre-recorded messages that play when they press a button. Once they "qualify" you for the scam, they switch the call to a human scammer.

Why a vocoder? Recordings are of a woman's voice with a Midwest intonation. Perfect for seniors with hearing problems, the pitch range is perfect.

How to foil? After the first "Hello" or question, challenge them: my favorite is to ask "what is three plus five". Use your own challenge, and be creative. Real humans will react; the button pushers usually don't have an answer pre-recorded.

> Real business is conducted through the US mail. <

That’s why scammers will usually tell you to send them cash via UPS or FedEx.

And what cash would that be? Money that the victims owe the IRS. But of course the IRS is really the scammer’s outfit.

- I always like when I’ll get a strange phone call that I don’t know, and it will say in the description, “ USA call. “ -

I have noticed these days that very fews call come through with the name of the caller. Most of the calls I get these days show the number and the city/state, never a name.

OMG!

My sister’s father in law knows a woman who was widowed and later met a guy online. She sold her house, sent the $ to him so he could buy a house for the two of them. You know what happened. Out a million $ for sending it to someone she never met in person. She lost everything and had to get a job.

I never answer my phone. I don’t forward things because scammers can walk them back, looking for suckers who forward things without verifying whether it is true. IOW people who follow directions mindlessly.

Ask for the square root of -1.

If they don’t give you the correct answer hang up immediately.

Lol.

Pardon my lecture but ….

it’s not the phone that shows “the number” rather it’s the phone that shows whatever the caller wants it to show. it’s called “spoofing” and people have to realize caller ID is at best a hopeful guess and is probably correct only if an honest caller is contacting you.

Scammers, not so much. the fake caller ID that’s says your bank’s name is being supplied by the scammer team’s outbound phone switch which is placing hundreds or thousands of calls every hour hoping some fish will bite. all they need is one victim out of every thousand placed calls.

DO NOT BELIEVE CALLER ID.

Today’s Barbary Coast predators are international scamming gangs.

President Jefferson took care of the Barbary Coast pirates preying on US ships.

Today’s foreign national gangs tacitly assisted by their governments are no different than those pirates 🏴‍☠️ In 1800, they roamed the seas from Tripoli, Today we have pirates roaming the digital “sea”

I can’t believe no one’s talking about this in these terms. these scamming gangs are no different than the Houtis.

Lately I've been getting texts on Telegram from lovely young women, wanting to connect with me. LOL, I just delete them.

I've also been getting upwards of $200K a week in unsecured loan offers, they usually tell me I've been preapproved, but there's just a couple of details they need to confirm. Not happening, people...lol.
