Two masked suspects who allegedly impersonated police officers were shot and killed by a homeowner in Houston on Friday night after they attempted to enter a residence under false pretenses, according to local news station KHOU and the Houston Police Department (HPD).
Newsweek reached out to the HPD via email on Saturday for comment.

What To Know
The incident occurred around 11 p.m. on Bellnole Drive in southeast Houston, according to the HPD, with both suspects, believed to be in their 30s, pronounced dead at the scene after exchanging gunfire with the homeowner.
The suspects approached the home claiming to be police officers serving a warrant, but several factors raised the homeowner's suspicions, according to KHOU. The homeowner's Ring doorbell camera played a crucial role in the incident, allowing them to observe the scene before opening the door.
The suspects were equipped with bulletproof vests and wore badges around their necks, suggesting a deliberate attempt to appear authentic. However, their ski masks, lack of marked police vehicles, and absence of emergency lighting contradicted standard police protocol for serving warrants.
The confrontation escalated when the suspects allegedly shot through the door first, prompting the homeowner to return fire. The homeowner was not injured in the exchange.
Police told the local news station that if someone is unsure whether it is really the police outside their door, there are some signs to look for.
"Obviously, a police car with some sort of lights and sirens and a bullhorn where we'll be announcing ourselves," HPD Detective Kyle Stringer told KHOU.

Yeah, I’ll pass on that too.
Yep. Both, no doubt. They didn’t pick a house at random.
What a great story to read before I hit the sack!
Yeah, that’s my big fear. A forced entry because if I hear someone trying to smash my door in the middle of the night first thing I’m grabbing is my 45 and go right to the point where the forced entry is being attempted. And if the door wasn’t successfully breached, I would likely shoot through the door. I would imagine a stack of three swat dudes coming around the corner is probably gonna get me before I get them And I’m not gonna know who the hell they are either. I know they would probably yell police before they came through the door, but then again anybody can yell police.
I was thinking AR or better yet the ol 12 gauge to the groin technique
2. Nice shooting homeowner!

EXCELLENT 👍👍👍
They won’t do that again
to somebody else
Maybe Fake Bullet Proof….. or head shots….
They won’t do that again.
This is at least one citizen defensive shooting that “law enforcement” is not going to be grasping at straws to find something to prosecute.
They especially don’t like people impersonating them, and aren’t broke up when fakers get gunned down.
Shouldn’t have bought the vests on Temu...
“Bullet-proof vests don’t protect your head”,
.
Why a shotgun would “do them in”.
Almost like real Kevlar, but far less expensive!
Certain high powered rounds will penetrate body armor. And body armor only protects the chest/back area leaving neck, head and anything in the lower regions unprotected.
But you do have a good question, as the round passing through the door will certainly slow it down and possibly deform it. Also there’s no way to get an accurate head shot with the door blinding the shooter.
I’d say he might have used double aught buck. It will pass through sheet metal with enough force to kill and a spread guaranteed to hit something vital and/or cause a bleed out.
I have a semi auto 12 gauge loaded with high velocity double aught. Each shot fires 9 lead balls roughly the size of a 9mm at 1325 fps. With a 20 round drum you can get 180 9mm projectiles through the door in less than a minute. It’s the best home defense weapon you can get.
I did testing on an old washing machine where there are 6 layers of sheet metal from one side to the other. Most of these balls penetrated the first five layers and made deep dents in the sixth.
The thing about a semi auto shotgun is you can’t fire it very fast because the muzzle wants to go up.
Amazing that Newsweak describes Texas self defense laws “Robust”.
Good “justice” .....lets keep it up!
Nice!!
Props to the homeowner!
They yelled “it’s a prank! We’re making a YouTube video so we can get a bunch of likes”!!!
GOOD MATH
Interesting headline. Suspects were “Allegedly Impersonating” police, but not allegedly “Killed by Texas Homeowner.”
