Jamestown was founded a couple of decades later. I think they made an effort to locate the people of the Lost Colony. Did the survivors not want to be found? Too content with their new life among the Indians?

I would doubt that - if they managed to find a group that would allow them to assimilate, they were likely happy to do so.

To put it bluntly, people were cheap, and they likely realized they were just abandoned there.
