My immediate recollection is they were very bright multi-colors.
But, 60 years after the fact, my imagination might have replaced the reality.
I do recall laughing at the news story about thousands of green parrots in a Florida town.

We call them Quaker parrots — I’m guessing your memory is good... in the Tampa Bay area they’re usually green but in Miami they have more color.
