“I am no herpetologist, but I think it is an albino python,” Foster wrote.
The reptile was believed to have been someone’s pet and is thought to have been released, as this type of snake is not native to the area.

IMO, that is an old tale, if the snake is hungry and you are warm; NOT GOOD!
Asylum seeker.
What a disappointment. From the title I thought they were talking about John Cleese.
While deployed on MIA-POW recovery missions in 1992 and 1993 to Cambodia, one of our crew chiefs managed to capture and kill a 16 foot Burmese python which he skinned, cooked (yum, there were 110 of us on that particular mission and probably 60 tried the snake), then took the skin into Thailand where he traded it for a pair of Python-skin boots.
One of these days I’ll make stills from the video I shot of that and many other things.
Look, they even put it in a handy storage container for you.
Why did the python cross the road?
“These boots were made for walkin’..” ♫
I wish Florida had passed a law yeses ago outlawing the sale of snakes not indigenous to Florida. Now we have a python problem we’ll never get rid of...
It will be soon - and not b/c of this pet snake, but b/c the pythons will adapt and move up to slightly colder temperatures.
The only thing they can't stand is sub freezing temperatures. I'd bet that their tolerance for that is increasing just a little bit each year.
A wildlife ranger guy/neighbor tells me the only thing that cures this is sub 32 degrees in Miami for almost a week solid. We may be waiting for that for a long time.
Best to conduct a search and if there are any left, kill them all.

Pythons - illegal invaders?

There are many problems with DuPage County and cold weather, but large snakes are not one of them!
I have a couple of nice snow blowers and no large snakes!
Such a deal.
But ima need a bigger caliber and more capacity.
Carry it in a .410.

In the 1960s, there was a small flock (about six) of escaped pet parrots that lived in the trees next to my south Florida high school running track.
Apparently, a local home owner fed them every day, and the parrot squawking drove the other (affluent) neighbors crazy.
Several local news articles were published about various lawsuits and people shouting at each other in the court room.
When the students ran laps on the track, we would all start squawking, and all the parrots would light up at the same time. The noise level was ridiculous!
Eventually, the gym coaches were required to give detentions to any student who started squawking.
Parrots live up to 80 years. Some of them, and their children and grand children, might still be living there!
I never ate python but ate lots of rattlers. Tasty meat.
I’m a biologist and that’s a male. Or one really pissed off female.
LOL - great story. By any chance were those parrots green? A few years ago there there thousands of them downtown... Florida is so weird... and fun.
LOL
Yes, wouldn’t surprise me if it turned out it was George Soros bringing them in 60 years ago...
