I get what you wrote and hope more like her get nabbed.

Most beehive inhabitants are female workers, nurses, foragers, undertakers, etc. Drones have one purpose - mate with a virgin queen. They’re born in the spring and kicked out of the hive to die in the fall.

When queenless, the workers will make a new queen, only if the former queen left eggs, and there are drones present to mate with the virgin queen. Time of year has to be right.
