Ours was bred on a goat farm, she was one of 11!. Her mother and father were amazing. When goats were born, Archie the male would lead the pack of 5 and lick the baby goats clean. The young dogs would follow suit. What they were doing was leaving their scent on the baby goats to protect them. Pretty amazing.

What a great story! Ours were sired by goat guardians too, but we got them at 12 weeks. We raised ours with a baby goat, next to but not with the herd. At around 4 months we put them all together and they are all truly a pack. We brought the pups to the house for a few months after spay/neuter but they were so sad, they missed their goats.

We never had to train them. The girl pyr walks the fence line and is the most vocal. The boy lays among the herd and has a booming bark. He is the cuddler. It’s not unusual to see him laying with 2-3 goat kids climbing on top of him. Such special dogs ❤️
