My parents spent 5 years in Japan in the 50s.....then my dad did 2 tours of Vietnam with most of his R&R being spent in Thailand.

I never could get him to even consider eating in any type of asian restaurant.....he refused to even discuss it.....this is more than likely why.

I did grades 7-8 and 10-11 in Bangkok.
It was a great place to be a teenager.
My father was in the Foreign Service and worked at the US Embassy.

He knew their health and cleanliness standards. The only Asian restaurant I would patronize is a Japanese one.
