Some Minnesota Vikings fans have threatened to cancel their season tickets following the team’s hiring of a male cheerleader.
A new dancer named Blaize has joined the Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders (MVC), a move that some consider to be somewhat groundbreaking.
While a male football cheerleader is hardly a novelty, Blaize’s role is different. He is expected to perform the same dance-based routines as his female teammates.
His inclusion on the Vikings’ official dance roster is part of a seemingly growing trend, where teams such as the Los Angeles and New Orleans Saints have welcomed males into their cheer squads.
Uh Oh: Multiple Vikings fans are upset that the team has hired a male cheerleader for this upcoming season and are threatening to cancel their season tickets.

— Dov Kleiman (@NFL_DovKleiman) August 10, 2025 The new cheerleader isn’t part of a separate stunt or co-ed like the men seen in college cheerleading. He’s been completely integrated into the dance team format, which is what some people have a problem with.
“I don’t think the problem is male cheerleaders. Those have existed forever. Nobody wants a man PRETENDING he’s a female cheerleader,” one wrote on X.

Can Minnesota Vikings Fans Really Cancel Their Season Tickets Over A Dancer?
The Vikings have long been advocates of inclusivity and community engagement. As such, Blaize is expected to appear at home games, promotional events, and local outreach programs.
It remains to be seen whether fans will actually cancel tickets, but even that’s not easy as NFL teams generally don’t issue refunds for personal reasons, which suggests that any such claims are likely more talk than action.
Well, good for you. I hope you enjoy having to scroll around to see the whole thing too.
Hey: If my wife gets her motor running from the players and a pretty boy cheerleader prompts a viewership timeout - ahem - then I’m all for it.
That is what I remember about male "cheerleaders." A STRONG male able to hold/support a woman safely. Many of that type of cheerleading squads were accomplished gymnasts.
I shudder to think what the new Viking "cheerleader" does in the gym.
.
It most likely IS AI generated.
Doesn’t that team also go by “The ViQueens”? Check any Packers or Bears fans group board.
And old-time FReepers with good memories all at once grinned, and said "NICE!"
(At least those of us who were somewhat degenerate back then. Surely I've cleaned up my act by now…)
Can they really have somebody this stupid running things in the office?
I always root for the Washington Football Team to lose, no matter whom they are playing, even if it’s Gaza or Pyongyang. Looks like there’s another team that I will be rooting for to lose.
I'm sure there are plenty of fans who would take those tickets in a minute.
No, I didn’t read the article. I may sit corrected.
If you read the whole thing, it sounds like he’s not trying to be the George W. Bush-type cheerleader, he’s trying to be the girl cheerleader.
College and High School Cheerleading is completely different than Cheerleading in professional sports (not just the NFL), they are more dance troupes than cheerleaders.
Love that. 😄
“Get in the groove and be gay!”
Hey, Tim Walz needs something to do with his spare time now that he's no longer (safe conditions only) serving in the National Guard....
Didn't want to break the rules of actually reading the article.
If they want to hire male cheerleaders,so be it..but they better act like males and dress like males...
How about all cheerleaders are male and football players are female?
