I went to DC on a trip from my college in 1980. It was a total crimehole then. We were warned about going out at night and being alone.

I see nothing has really changed. A US Senator was shot in a robbery in 1973

Went there in 1991. Didn’t see a problem. We took the subway everywhere. Easy, cheap and clean.
