Agreed. Thinking of things like anti-Reconstructionism in the South that ultimately led to Jim Crow which lasted until the 1960s. And enabling the Cong in Vietnam and the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia to take over and unleash bloody and brutal repression on citizens there in the 1970s.
