Definitely number TWO, with great affection and tribute.
“Whaddaya wanna do?” “I dunno, whadda you wanna do?”
Making those TWO lines between TWO guys FAMOUS, was the great actor, Earnest Borgnine and his best friend playing roles in the great 1956 movie, “MARTY”.
“MARTY” won Five Oscars that year.

I think I like #1 more because of the fact that SAL has no hands. What happens when they really, REALLY need to do something that requires hands in order to stay functional? To me, it’s the more open-ended story of the two, and has good tension/conflict potential, especially if you introduce a deadline to them acting.
#2 opens the question, how did they accidentally kill everyone off, but it’s less open-ended. Once we know the answer, then we know.
To: Lazamataz
#2 - enough with climate change....

Two is better . By the time AI takes over the Global warming hoax will have been related to a big joke. By the way CO2 is only .04% of the atomsphere. The reason it is such a small fraction is that plants have become very effective at pulling it out of the air.

Boredom is an emotion that would make the AI go extinct thru suicide. That rate at which they think compared to the rate they could actually get anything done would drive them into an incurable depression.
