Tennessee death row inmate cries out in pain during lethal injection after state refused to deactivate defibrillator implant

A Tennessee death row inmate cried out in pain after the state refused to deactivate his implanted defibrillator as he was executed for murdering his girlfriend and her two young daughters.

Byron Black, 69, was pronounced dead at 10:43 a.m., about 10 minutes after receiving a lethal injection at the Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville, according to state correctional officials.

How about using the exact same method that these animal murderers used to kill their victims.

I would 100% support this, and would argue it doesn't fall under unusual punishment at all. Except, some of the guys do some pretty depraved stuff, and now you're going to have to find someone almost as mentally messed up to be able to do it to the guy. As a day job..

The debt to God - punishment of death - was paid 2000 years ago and is an invalid and unjust imposition of man upon man.

The debt to man - protection of others, deterrence, or repayment, but not death - is a valid consequence man can validly and justly impose on man.

“”We are having chicken parmesan over angel hair pasta tonight.
Can’t wait...””

Sounds like heaven. I wonder what Byron will be having...

I thought that inmates were offered sedation before lethal injection, in which case the person would be, for all intents and purposes, unconscious and wouldn’t feel the device discharge. If the inmate refused the sedation, he’s made the choice. That article was sort of confusing.

I am pretty sure you are right.

I remember there being a series of three drugs the first of which was a sedative to render the individual unconscious.

That’s what’s so confusing. How’s he going to register pain if he’s unconscious? And that lawyer portraying him as a nice, sweet old man. How is murdering one person after another nice and sweet? I give up.

A lot of people are sweet until they are under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

There is not a lot of drugs or alcohol on death row.

The meanest impaired people I’ve ever met were speed freaks.
