Tennessee death row inmate cries out in pain during lethal injection after state refused to deactivate defibrillator implant
A Tennessee death row inmate cried out in pain after the state refused to deactivate his implanted defibrillator as he was executed for murdering his girlfriend and her two young daughters.
Byron Black, 69, was pronounced dead at 10:43 a.m., about 10 minutes after receiving a lethal injection at the Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville, according to state correctional officials.

Why don’t they just give them fentanyl? Apparently it doesn’t take much, it is readily available, and it doesn’t cost a lot. They may die puking and convulsing, but they would be totally unaware of it. Think of it like the modern techno version of the hempen jig.
they should use the exact same method they do to put down strays at the pound.
If it is good enough for innocent stray pets, its good enough for these murderers!
Yep ... he sure caused others to ‘cry out in pain’.
In the old Cagney movie “Angels with Dirty Faces” ...
Sounds like a Home Alone VHS movie!
Actually ... sounds like a good movie .... thanks for mentioning.
Correct.
If the press and the bleeding hearts out there want to blame someone for the murderer's suffering, blame the hospital that wouldn't remove the defibrillator.
But, they can be assured that the man did not suffer long.
We could always go back to the Guillotine no suffering with that baby!
I’m trying to figure out why I should be concerned.
I hear that today they captured the killer of 4 family members. Caught him in Jackson, TN.
Light him up. Now Buster Brown has something to look forward to.
Nothing worse than a murderer acting like a buttercup. When he started whining they should have stuck an ice pick in his head.
Bring back public hanging and stop enriching lawyers for years with taxpayers money.
I have meatballs in marinara simmering. Likewise.
The victims were killed in 1988. The murderer lived for an additional 37 years after the crime and before he was executed. He was 69 years old, so he lived more or less a normal lifespan, supported by the taxpayers of Tennessee. Where is the justice? Ten minutes of pain?
That thought crossed my mind as well.
They should implant those in EVERY death row inmate. How comforting.
Yep.
Why don’t they just ‘fentanyl’ them?
Then they won’t cry - which I think some inmates might fake things on their way out.
Disclaimer - my best friend was brutally murdered and I have no sympathy for murderers.
Brings me back to better days. A better America. I was always a fan of Ed Ames.
There’s no right way to do the wrong thing.
They’ll never come up with a “humane” way to punish a criminal by death.
The death penalty is unjust double jeopardy - Someone already paid the ultimate price of death for what he did.
