They ask for help from the public but provide no pictures of he murderous couple.

If anyone noticed this couple on their trip the would likely be in their late 60s to 90s now.

These people would not likely know the names of the people that brought themselves to be noticed probably by fighting (or getting beaten).

These kind of people get remembered by face not name.

Pictures would help.

Really the police give very little data on the couple, no info on where they lived or where they died.

We know when Vera died (1980) but not when Hedgepeth died.

Not much to go on.

I read several stories about this case, and all were nearly identical.

No information on James Hedgepeth except he is also deceased.
